Homework =S

Hi! It’s been a long time since I don’t write because I’ve been on vacation. Sadly, I have one more week left and then torture will start. I don’t totally dislike school because you get to see your friends and after a while of being in vacation I get bored, but I don’t like homework. I really don’t see the point in teachers leaving us homework. I mean, they say that its for us to practice on our own, but we can practice during class. Also homework is not good for our health because sometimes we need to stay up late and we barely get some sleep. Then the next, morning you can fall asleep during a class which bring us to more problems. You might get punished or teachers will call your attention and if there’s homework left abut the lesson you missed then you have to figure it out at home or ask a classmate for help. So mainly, for me, that my number one torture from school, specially because I am one of those persons who leave things for the last minute. Instead of doing homework on weekends, I hang out with friends. I sometimes try to do my homework, but once you get online on MSN a Saturday, friends start talking to you and inviting you to go somewhere. So then you’re attention is drawn from your homework to the computer leaving your homework behind. I know I shouldn’t turn on the computer before finishing my homework, but watching my computer just sitting there is tempting because you know that the computer has way more interesting stuff then a sheet of paper with math equations has. So then after a tiring, entertaining and fun day of hanging out with my friends I go to sleep. The next morning I wake, open my eyes, and its probably like 7 a.m. since I’m used to school sleeping and waking up schedule, but then I remember that today is Sunday. Part of myself tells me to get out of bed and carry myself to my desk to advance my homework so I have less homework during the week. On the other hand, the other part me tells me that is Sunday and Sundays to me mean resting day. I could say this decision takes less then a second to be made. You probably already know the answer and of course I choose to keep sleeping, so I close my eyes and then suddenly find myself disconnected from my surroundings. The rest of day goes by the same way, you know, “resting” which means watching t.v., being in the computer, or reading. The next thing I know my weekend has gone so fast and the week has started. During the next days I find myself with a cup coffee at night that helps me stay awake to be able to finish up. Really, part of my torture is my own very fault because of the decisions I made, but then again none of this would’ve happened if teachers wouldn’t leave homework at all. Of course, they won’t ever stop giving us homework because they like to see our expressions when we get an “F” on the homework that took all night to finish. Sometimes they find funny our confused looks on our face, but really all we want to do as soon the bell rings is get up, go to trash can, and throw it away. We don’t want to ever see that homework again because it took away our time to be doing something fun. The moment we’re crumpling our paper into a small ball ready for it to be thrown away, your teacher comes by telling you that you should keep it to help you study for a test. Then I look at the paper and think to myself, “ How can I concentrate on this piece of paper that will help me studying for a test when all I can really concentrate is on the big red “F” that is written at the top corner of my homework?. But we, as students obey and just take the ball and shove it deep into our backpack hoping you nobody sees it. You had a terrible non-sleeping week and besides that you know that you got an “F” on your assignment, but you’re happy because its Friday and you get to hang out with friends. You call your mom to ask for permission and she flatly says no. You argue with her and ask her why and then of course you didn’t have to wait for her answer you already knew why. It was the big, fat “F” you got and you start to wonder how she knows about it, but that doesn’t really matter what it does is that she knows and you’re grounded. Homework just brings us problem and yet teachers keep giving us more. Okay, I got to admit sometimes they do help us out, but we, students, just hate it.

Poem…

Moving Away

The minute you’re told, you really don’t care,

But as the year goes by you’re preparing yourself to cry. You don’t want to ruin the moment, so you hold your tears and won’t let the knot in your throat explode.

But when the time has arrived, and everything is in a box,

is you know there is no turning back.

Then you realize all you wanted to do but you never did.

And now it’s too late because you’re sitting on the plane with all those things in your head and your tears running down your face.

You go towards another direction as I stay here, sitting,

staring at the window wondering if I’ll ever see you again.

A tear comes down my check and plops into my mouth, but then I ask myself if this is the end. My answer is no because I might see you again.

I wrote this poem and I would like to dedicated it for all of those who are leaving I hope that you like it.

P.S. I won’t be writting as often as before because were in summer and we wrote a post per week, but I will continue writting :D Enjoy!

Its life…

I read a few posts of the end of school year. I’m quite sad right now to see how many wonderful people are leaving. These people, although sometimes you’re not like best friends, they make a difference. As the years go by, an when you’re probably married with children, you’ll look back at those yearbooks you kept and while flipping the pages you’ll see all of those signatures and comments your friends wrote to you. Maybe when you look at one you’ll be like “What?” You probably won’t remember those inside jokes or anything that was so meaningful to you back then, but now they were washed away with time. But you know what? As sad as it is, that’s life. There is this quote I really like. I don’t know who wrote it, but I would like to share it with you. “Many people will walk in and out of your lives, but only true friends will leave footprints in our heart.” Yes, we will meet new people at other schools, college, business, work, everywhere, but only those who were special to us at some point in life we will remember. Later on, in life, you’ll take out all of those album pictures you store, blow the dust out of them and open it. You’ll find pictures that will revive memories that were buried and maybe you’ll be able to remember as if it were yesterday. You see that picture where you were holding a tooth in your hand and going back to those years and remember that was your first tooth that fell. Later on, you’ll walk up to a mirror probably notice wrinkles showing up and trying all those anti-wrinkle creams and wishing to be a child again. You might have a bag with significant things in it and when you reach in the bag you’ll put out something, maybe that B.F.F.E. bracelet or some other bracelet that for some reason you weren’t suppose to take it off until it was the correct time to take off. There is always those small details in life that will spice it up, so instead of being just boring life it will be LIFE!! We will forget those details eventually, but there will always be new ones. But that is life you live it and die, but what happens in between is up to you. There’s no choice if you want to die, eventually you will. But HOW you live it and what you choose to do with it is your choice, so JUMP, SCREAM, CRY, LAUGH, LOVE…etc. Life is full of colors and each represents something for each one. For example, red, for me, represents love, so use all of your colors don’t leave life just as a simple black and white. It is the end of school year for most of us, many are happy and many are sad depends on your situation, but this isn’t THE END. Just remember to keep in touch with those who you want and maybe later on you can meet again and catch up with those new stories we will have to tell each other. Many close friends will be leaving, but all those memories and good times are for us to keep them locked in our heart. Good luck for all of those who are leaving! I will miss you a lot…♥♥♥ “Live the life you love, love the live you live”- Bob Marley.♥♥♥

…ReSpEcT…

I know this post is off topic according to what I have been blogging, but I just wanted to share this experience with you.  Yesterday, as I was changing myself in the bathroom a mother of two little girls came in. When she saw that both of the bathrooms were occupied because my sister and me were changing she started, not screaming, but in a very annoying and disrespectful way to tell us things. My sister and I always change on our dancing lessons place on Wednesday because we start at 4 p.m. and we get out of school at 3 p.m., so there is no way we can go home to change. This lady came in furious telling us that we should change in another place, that those bathrooms were not to for us to change, and that our parents probably were like us, disrespectful, according to her because they did show us how to be polite. I just stayed quite while I changed. Those bathrooms were for could anyone to use in the building and they change there. She also said that her little girl needed to go to the bathroom and that we were taking her daughter’s rights. Then I thought to myself, “I also have rights and I have the right to change in a private environment were I know no one will be watching.” Then I heard her daughter, oldest one, who was about 3 years old, peeing where you wash your hands. I thought that was just so disgusting and I mean, I know, the bathrooms where occupied, but there was also other bathrooms in that building. I was shocked at what she did. When I finished changing I came out.

I told her in polite way, “Excuse me lady, but please don’t say my parents don’t teach me respect and don’t talk bad about them when you even know them. “

“I didn’t say anything about your parents,” she answered.

This really annoyed me because she was lying and she could’ve just told the truth. But what she said right after that made want to hit her, of course I didn’t.

“I just want your parents to see what kind of daughter they have.” She said.

I took this as an insult. I felt I was going to pull out her hair and she make learn a lesson.

“Just for your information my parents are really proud of me.” I replied really angry.

         “Respect Me,” she said.

No, you respect me. You can’t insult me in that way. You don’t even know me.”

I was really angry at her and my voice each time was getting to the point were I was going to start screaming, but I was able to control myself. The discussion kept on going and she started raising her voice almost screaming at me. Then she was walking out the door and she kept arguing.

I just simply told her,” I don’t have to argue with you over this I just wanted you to have respect over my family and I and maybe you could set an example for your kids instead of just letting them pee in the sink.”

After that she left. I was so angry at that point, but I thought that if maybe she would’ve come in the bathroom and say something like, “Hey please I need the bathrooms because my daughter needs to use it.” I probably would’ve gotten out let them in and then go back to change. But the way she came in saying that was unbelievably disrespectful towards a child or anybody and I had the right t defend my family.Respect-Kelly Clarkson

An interesting way to just simply decorate, have fun or express yourself is with coffee. Right now you are probably asking yourself  “How can you decorate a coffee?” Many people like chefs are able to. This gives coffee a nice presentation look for the customer and probably tastes good also. Usually, they have the coffee and they add milk to it and chocolate to make shapes. I have seen videos were they make shapes of dogs or like stars. It is pretty amazing because it hard t have it so still because if you make a rough move then the coffee’s figure would not come out. Also it is amazing how they just pour the milk and it creates and image when combining it with chocolate. In order to create images they use like a toothpick and move it towards chocolate to make a figure. When it done you see both colors like light brown which s the coffee with milk and the darker brown which is chocolate. Sometimes when doing it you can observe how they clean the toothpick constantly that way it doesn’t mess up the rest of the coffee. By cleaning it doesn’t give it a such dirty look because sometimes when you don’t clean it probably drags the chocolate into the lighter part of the coffee and can leave an unexpected design. It is an interesting way to do art just as painting or coloring in a paper, but instead is on coffee. I guess on coffee, it’s way harder because first of all, its something liquid and it moves, unlike paper stays still. Also space is smaller and if your design doesn’t fit then you have to start all over. On the other hand, paper is bigger and you have more space to draw on or paint and if you run out of space then you could just add another piece of paper and glue them together, but in coffee if you out another cup next to it to finish your design it would come out weird. Coffee art is difficult, but really interesting and the designs turned out to be incredible.

CoLoRinG…?

“Go finish your drawing.” These are words usually said to me by my art teacher. “It’s finished,” I say. “No it is not.” “What is it missing?” I ask him. “Color, it’s missing color, he replies.” I roll my eyes and go back down to sit. I grab the markers and color pencils and stare at them trying to figure out the color that will fit the best because the colors will never look the same as the ones from the original picture. I take the color pencil in my hand and barely color the spaces. It so light, you can barely see it. “Now I’m done,” I say. “Oh come on! Add some color I can barely see that. Plus, there are some white spaces,” he answers. I sit back down and stare at my picture. “I don’t like it with color. I like black and white drawings,” I mumbled. I kept staring at my picture and all I could hear was the clock ticking. Then I thought to myself, ” Color has ruined my drawing.” After a while, I took the color pencil in my hand sharpened it and started coloring harder. With only ten minutes left to class, I had finally finished my drawing. “How about now? Is this better?” I asked him. “It’s pretty good.” Then I asked myself, “Pretty good?! It took me so much time and even though I didn’t want to color it I colored it only because you told me to and that all you say!?” I was surprised by his reply. I was even surprised at how my drawing came out because it wasn’t that bad with color. The bell rang and I took the drawing with me. When I got home I should it to me mother and she liked it. She grabbed my drawing and placed it in a folder. My mother usually takes care of all the drawings I make. She even has the ones when I was little. After that day, I began to like color. Later on, I tried other technique by using pastels. By now, pastels are my favorite and I use them every single time I make a drawing and color it. When I take a pastel in my hand is gives me a feeling because they are so smooth and they come in a variety of colors. The best part about pastels is that you don’t need to color one space with the pastel the only thing I do is outline my drawing with the pastel I want. Then I run my finger along the border pushing the color towards the center. It gives it an effect of smooth picture. Pastels are very similar to chalks. Sometimes a grab a black piece of paper and draw with pastels because the color are more noticeable the on the white one. I think that if it hadn’t been because of my art teacher, I would probably, today, still be drawing black and white pictures.  I decided to post this video because you can see how this person paints with pastels and at the end his drawing is amazing. Also you can see how he uses his finger to spread the coloring.picture-1.png

This is a drawing I made for my sister on her birthday.

Weaving

There are many ways to create artwork. One of them is weaving. Every time the bell rings at 11:30 a.m I head to one of the farthest classroom in our school, the Art class. There are several activities to be completed throughout the quarter during this class. Each grade learns different things and techiniques. Sometimes we have free time and we can do what we like, such as drawing or painting, but we usually stay focus on our learning and do projects. Right now, this quarter, every time I get to this class I get my work which is a needle and string and you go up and down to form a drawing, this is called weaving. All we have done so far are two projects. The first one was easier. We had three colors and two strings from each. At first, when I passed a round I noticed how tight my strings were. My teacher told me that it was because I was putting too much tension on my weaving, so I loosen up, but made sure that they weren’t too lose. When I finished I notice a pattern. This pattern created a wearable oject, such as a braclet or a belt. Now I am working on a project that was assigned to us, but it is more challenging. First, you create a design on a piece of paper. I decided to do a palm tree in an island. We had to pick at least four colors. Then you paste it into a cardboard and then set it up. It gets kind of tiring because all you do is weave and it’s suppose to be relaxing, but I just get bored. I guess I have no choice because if you chose an elective you’re to do what your told and the teacher won’t change an activity just because you don’t like it.

MaNuEl AnToNiO..

As you already know, I love the beach. Luckily, I was able to go to Manuel Antonio, one of Costa Rica’s most beautiful beaches. I went to Manuel Antonio for the 8th grade trip and stayed three days. During those three days we did several activities. We left school at 6 a.m. When traveling we made a stop to use the bathrooms. The first activity we did was canopy and superman zip line. There were two groups, one for the ones who chose canopy and the others who chose superman zip line. I chose canopy because in superman zip line you throw yourself laying down on your stomach looking down, so I didn’t choose it because I am afraid of heights and I get dizzy when I look down. Canopy was awesome, since it was my first time I had ever done it I had no idea how it would feel. In order not to get vertigo, I just saw things at my eye level because if would’ve looked down I probably would have chickened out. All I could see were the top of the trees and I could feel the cool breeze on my face and the faster I went the more breeze I felt. Also I could hear the noise the zip line made as you went through it. It was a great experience. The only thing I didn’t like was that it was too sunny so it was really hot and I was sticky because I was sweating. After that we went for a hike. Then we ate lunch at that same place and there was a buffet. Later we went to see the animals which I thought was boring, but then we went to a maze that was made of plants. It was really cool and the best part was that since it had sprinklers you got wet, so that refreshed me. After all those activities we got back in the bus and arrived at the hotel around 6 p.m. In the night we ate dinner and then got in the pool. The next day our room didn’t woke up until 6:58 and we were leaving around 7:15. The reason me and my roommates didn’t woke up was because the teachers forgot that there were students on our room and thought that there were other guests, so we didn’t get our wake up call. We showered fast and ate breakfast. Again, we got on the bus and went rafting. This I had also never done it and I was very excited about it. At first we got some instructions of what should we do when some falls to the river, how to pull them back on the boat, and stuff like that. Later it was time to get on our boats. There was to be 3 boys and 2 girls on each boat, plus a teacher (in some boats) and a guide. Rafting was really fun, we got wet and we were able to get down of the boat in some places. What I didn’t like of jumping off the boat was when they pulled you back up again because it hurts. Also we went to a waterfall and it was really cool because almost everyone got in. After rafting we ate lunch which was like salad. Then we went back in the bus again and the whole trip to get back to the hotel was raining. When we got to the hotel we had two choices, you could either stay at the hotel or go to the beach. Of course, I chose to go to the beach like the majority of the students. In the beach, some played soccer, others played american football and other just hung out. I just hung out and got in the beach with my friends and we took a lot of pictures. Then we went back to the hotel, ate dinner and went to sleep. The next and last day we were separated in two groups and while one did community service the other one went to the beach and then we switch. I was in the group that went to the beach first. I had lots of fun and I got in the sea. Later we did like 20 minutes of community service which was cleaning the trails. After we went for a walk until we got to the restaurant were we where going to eat lunch. We had lunch first then the other group. After eating lunch we went back to the hotel, took a shower and packed our stuff to get back home. The trip back home was rainy. We arrived at school around 6 p.m. Manuel Antonio was a great experience and I learned things such as rafting and canopy and I had a great time. I hope to go back there one day.rafting-ad-shot.jpg      canopy2.jpg     4.JPG     041110-047.jpg

…BeAcH…

A place I really like to go is the beach. Unfortunately my parents don’t like it that much, so I don’t get to go that often. I know that here in Costa Rica, where I live, it takes a while to get there and it gets tiring, but I believe it’s worth it. One reason I like to go to the beach is because it is relaxing. The sound of the waves when they crash against rocks or the smell of the ocean its just something that I really like. I think that the best thing from the beach is the sunset. You can see how the colors in the sky turn sort of like red and orange and how the sun starts to hide behind the sea. Also I like the breeze when it’s cool, not like really hot that you feel you’re skin is burning, but the breeze from the evenings. When I first get to the beach I hate to unpack because it takes too long, so sometimes what I do is just kind of open my bag and then just leave it open the rest of the days and just like pull out what I’m going to use. I don’t know why, but every time I go to the beach I like to eat, at least once, fried fish with french fries and a milkshake. It just taste different for me when I eat it in the beach. Last time I went to the beach, I took surfing lessons with my sister. I had a great time and I was impressed that both of us were able to stand on the surfing board. It is hard because at first you practice standing on the board in the sand, then you get in the water. So when in the water, it’s harder because you need to find a balance so you don’t fall in the water. I fell, but I kept trying until I was able to stand a few times. Our instructor was very nice with us and helped us improve each time. I wanted to surf the next day, but we were leaving. The worst part is packing up because I need to fold all my clothes to make it fit in back again for the bag to close. Every time I go to the beach I enjoy every second because when we leave I know that probably I won’t be going back for a long time.           113875sunset-on-beach-with-silhouetted-hammock-and-palms-costa-rica-posters.jpgcosta-rica-beach.jpg

Music…

What can I say about music? For me, music plays an important role in my life. I listen to music every day of my life, when I dance or even on my way to school. Music is not only a way of entertainment, but it’s a form of art. I believe this because as many professional musicians, music helps us express ourselves and for me, art is a way of expressing yourself. Many times the lyrics in a song describe a moment or a memory that the artist would like to share with us and when we listen to it, if you pay close attention to the lyrics, you can notice what kind of emotions the artist was experimenting. Also it depends on the rhythm of the song. Sometimes songs are softer and slower so it might make you feel depressed or bored and other sometimes the music is danceable and makes you want to jump up and start dancing. Music, for me, contains something very special that I’m not sure what it is, but when I listen to it is like it drives me to another world. I feel like I am getting carried away with it and thoughts that I don’t want just disappear. It’s like I get in sort of this world and it depends on which song I am listening to for me to feel what the artist felt that moment. When dancing many times you get carried away with the music and you enter a world where you interpretate your thoughts and worries into a dance, so you really get the feel of it. Normally, when this happens while you’re dancing, the public notices it and for them, it feels like you’re acting out a song and if you really get to feel the music and get carried away it becomes so real for you and the public. Music is something that I take with me everywhere and even sometimes I have a song stuck in my head all day long. I do consider music one of my passions.                     ipod_heart.jpg                  idancegif_100_cw100_ch100.jpg                           picture-4.png                                         picture-2.png
